Club Tournaments
The Club hosts “tournaments” through out the open water season. To determine teams we use two formats, DRAW and PICK. For DRAW events, participants signup and the DRAW is performed at the monthly meeting preceding the tournament date. Individuals sign up as a “boater” or a “non-boater”. (Boaters provide the boat.) At the montly meeting prior to the DRAW Tournament, the Tournament Director randomly draws teams of a boater and non-boater. For PICK events, members may pair up and enter as a team. You can only team with a club member once a year for a PICK entry. At the monthly meeting before the Tournament date, we will draw the boat order from the teams entered in the tournament.
The tournament results are determined based on the weight of fish presented to the weigh master at the end of the tournament. During the warmer months, the DNR requires tournaments to be Catch, Record and Release (CCR). The Club uses its own developed app that operates off a phone so the photo of the fish is entered with its length, and it gets automatically converted to a weight. The entry fee to the tournament pays for the Club overhead of tournament fees, insurance, plaques, and the annual awards banquet. To sweeten the event, we run cash side pots, and that is 100% paid out on the ramp.
