Genoa is complete!

Despite the beautiful weather, it seems we encountered quite a tough bite out there on the water. The Wisconsin DNR’s efforts yielded only four walleyes out of 24 nets in the spawning areas. Even the “tail water” enthusiasts had a challenging time getting things going.

However, amidst the tough conditions, there were shining moments. Lance Kirby and Tracy Adams managed to land three elusive walleyes that even eluded the DNR’s nets, securing the first-place position in the tournament. Dave Ahman and Tim Fiedler also demonstrated their skills by landing two walleyes, including an impressive big fish weighing in at 2.54.

I want to extend a huge thank you to the 11 boats that made the journey. Your dedication and camaraderie truly made it a memorable and enjoyable experience for all involved. For many of us, the tournament wasn’t just about the competition—it was about making lasting memories. I’m sure there are plenty of new stories to be shared for generations to come. As they say, what happens in Genoa will never stay in Genoa!

Once again, thank you all for your participation and sportsmanship. Until next time, tight lines and happy fishing!
