Mississippi Walleye Club
Club Information
About us
The Mississippi Walleye Club is located in Dubuque, Iowa. Our primary fishing location is pool 12 of the Mississippi River. We are blessed to have one of the best walleye fisheries right in our backyard. This being said, even the most seasoned anglers can struggle with the river. Our goal as a club is to help you learn to fish the ever-changing conditions, how to control your boat to present your bait, which baits to use, and presentations appropriate to the conditions. Most importantly, our goal is to promote the sport of fishing!
Membership
Club Membership is required to participate in any of our events. The Club has two levels of membership, Individual and Family. Persons of the age of 18 may be individual members. Persons under the age of 18 are considered family members under a family membership. Membership fees are $30 for an individual and $35 for a family. The fee is waived for your first year of membership!
Most people join because they want to learn more about fishing walleye in the river. Attending the club meetings, the post-meeting social hour, and fishing the events is the way to be successful. The Walleye Club has terrific members that are open and here for the common goal of successful walleye fishing. You will achieve your goal of learning river walleye techniques by having access to these dedicated fishermen.Tournaments
You do not have to be a boat owner to fish with the Mississippi Walleye Club. We pair our members to ensure everyone has a boat to fish from. We host monthly “tournaments,” for which you sign up and are then randomly paired with another member to fish that event. Some of our events are “pick” events, where you do get to choose your own partner. Those events will also offer a “draw” opportunity to ensure that everyone who wants to fish can. This aspect of the club is terrific for those who want to mix up their social fishing circle and to learn from some of the best walleye fishermen around.
Kid's Day
The 2026 Kids Day will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026. This event runs just like a "pro" tournament. Two kids get assigned to a Club-approved boat with two adults. We go out on the river for a few hours and fish for non-game species. After returning to the dock, the teams weigh their catch and have their standing posted on the big scoreboard. All participants receive a prize. Food and refreshments are provided for all participants and their families. This is a great event for any and all kids ages 9 – 12. Fishing is from 7:00 am – 11:30 am. The following weigh-in ceremony includes the presentation of prizes and a picnic. And best of all, it is free to the kids and families!
Other Club Activities
As with all well-run clubs, structure, organization, and the ability to communicate with its members are critical. We strongly encourage all members to participate in all events for the overall health of the club. This would include our monthly meetings, participation in Board meetings, our newly introduced "Vet's Day", Kids' Day boat drivers, club banquets, Over Pins, and the list goes on!
